9/11/2002 Ceremony at the Ferndale High School football field. As Coordinator, Councilman Covey organized the First Anniversary Ceremony commemorating the events of 9/11.

9/14/2001 In 2001 Craig organized the post 9/11 candlelight vigil. Three hundred people attended the gathering in front of city hall.

At the post 9/11 ceremony in front of City Hall speakers included: on the left Reverend Dennis Paulsen of Ferndale’s First United Methodist Church, on the right Fr. Wurm of St. James Catholic Church in Ferndale, as well as other religious leaders from a variety of faiths who spoke to the grieving crowd.

Longtime Ferndale DPW employee, Robert "Tiger" Natin greets Councilman Covey. "You’ve got the most brains of any of 'em out there," Tiger told the Councilman. "You’re the best of the bunch."

"Tiger" Natin passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2003, after a valiant fight against cancer. He worked for the City of Ferndale in many capacities for more than 30 years, and will be missed by many generations of Ferndale residents. Visit the ballpark named after Tiger located at Martin Road Park in northeast Ferndale. Tiger was 67.
